The weatherman predicted flurries with no accumulation...

First Snow of the Season!

A few of us volunteers had a late night work session cataloging some new items into the History Center. There was a prediction of flurries with no accumulation. The flurries are in the first photo. By the time we were done and packing up, we noticed the "no accumulation".

Liibs Bakery and Confectionery

Liibs Bakery and Confectionery

The Petersburg Steam Bakery also known as Libb’s Bakery was a steam bakery plant and an ice-cream factory. Started in 1886 William Libbs and his wife and daughter operated the business which included not only a soda and ice-cream shoppe but a restaurant which served plate lunches as well. The bakery items included "breadstuff daily, Charlotte, Russe, Captain, fancy, decorated and wedding cakes, rolls, buns, jellies and numerous delicacies, and a specialty is made of pastries."  (Printed in the Pike County Dispatch in 1911).
